Grief doesn't always make you cry,
sometimes it just sits nearby.
You laugh, you eat, you go to bed,
while something aches inside your head.
It comes when you are least prepared,
in little moments no one shared.
A passing thought, a name, a song
and suddenly the whole day feels so wrong.
You learn to live, you learn to smile,
you even forget it for a while.
Then something small can pull you through
the years you thought you'd made it through.
And maybe grief is love that stays,
long after life has changed its ways.
Not loud, not gone, not asking why but
just quietly walking by your side.
