If you open Instagram or YouTube for even like five minutes, your feed is just flooded with those "millionaire lifestyle" videos and toxic hustle culture. Everyone is constantly talking about their 2 AM coding sessions, making insane money, and grinding 24/7.
To be completely real, it’s just so exhausting to watch. When you’re just living a normal, quiet life, social media honestly makes you feel like you're failing or lagging way behind everyone else.
The movie lie we all believed
I think a lot of this is because of the movies and TV shows we watched growing up. We always saw characters living in huge cities, wearing designer clothes, and making big business deals. So we just automatically assumed our twenties would look like some cool, exciting movie scene.
But real life hits totally differently. The reality is that most of us just end up doing regular 9-to-5 jobs and dealing with ordinary daily chores. And honestly? That's completely fine.
What real life actually looks like
Just take the writer Darius Foroux as an example.Back then, he probably imagined success as this wild, exciting life full of massive achievements. But when the economy went bad in 2010, he had to start a small business with his dad—and there was zero glamour in it.
But look at his life today:
1. He lives a super quiet life and works from a small room.
2. He just goes for normal walks and lifts weights.
3. He spends his time reading books and being with his family.
If he showed this current life to his 19-year-old self, that younger version of him would’ve probably laughed and called it the most boring thing ever.
What is real luxury anyway?
I feel like real luxury is just the simple things we usually take for granted: 1. Waking up without any random stress or anxiety.
2. Having good physical and mental health.
3. Doing your daily work without any annoying drama.
4. Just hanging out with people you actually care about.
You don't need a viral lifestyle to prove that your life is good. Sometimes, just living peacefully is the biggest win.
