To the rain,
Thank you for showing up on the days when I didn't know what to do with myself. You have this subtle yet strange way of making this loud world feel a little less demanding & noisy. The streets get quieter, the sky turns grey and suddenly I don't feel so guilty about slowing down. It's a ruined afternoon to others, but I see a reason to linger in the comfort of my bed a little longer, and to stare out the window aimlessly and just to exist without having to make something of myself. I can't pinpoint what it's exactly about you. Maybe it's the sound the way you drizzle or pour or maybe it's the way you blur everything outside my window until the world feels distant enough to bear. Or it's because I never have to explain myself to you to just be quiet. I've had days when I couldn't find comfort in conversations, music or even my own thoughts. But then you came along, tapping against the windows sills & filling the silence in my head without asking me to return the favour. The thing about a comfort that doesn't promise to change your life yet still making a difference is truly extraordinary beautiful. So thank you for the gloomy grey skies, the cold misty air, the smell of wet earth that comforts me and the little moments when I forget to be unhappy. Thank you for making ordinary afternoons feel like somewhere I can exist without pretending. You will never know how many difficult days you've made softer. With gratitude, Someone who has always found a little peace in you .
