That One Heartbreak That Completely Changed Me

That one heartbreak completely changed me and my perspective towards everything. And guess what? It wasn't love; it was friendship.

I was always the third person in my own story. All I wanted was to be prioritized, but I failed. She was always my best friend, but unfortunately, I wasn't hers.

I kept trying to hold on to the friendship, thinking that maybe things would get better someday. I kept adjusting, understanding, and sometimes even ignoring my own feelings just to keep the friendship alive. But somewhere along the way, I realized that a friendship cannot survive when only one person is trying to save it.

Things kept getting worse and worse. The conversations became shorter, the distance became bigger, and the bond that once felt so effortless slowly started feeling forced.

Now, we've become strangers. It's strange how someone who once knew almost everything about you can eventually become someone you don't even talk to. We now ignore each other as if we don't even exist for each other.

But despite everything, she still has a special place in my heart. Maybe I'm not that important to her anymore, but she is still important to me. I don't hate her, and I don't regret knowing her. Because there was a time when that friendship meant the world to me.

Sometimes, I still remember the moments we laughed together, the silly conversations, the inside jokes, and all those little things that only the two of us understood. Those memories still make me smile, even though they hurt a little now.

Maybe that's what makes friendship heartbreak different. There is no official goodbye, no final conversation, and sometimes, not even a clear reason. You just slowly become strangers while carrying years of memories with you.

She taught me that not everyone you consider your person will consider you theirs. And maybe that's okay. Some people are meant to stay, while some are meant to leave after teaching you something.

I don't know if we'll ever become friends again. Maybe we will, maybe we won't. But I've learned to stop forcing people to stay. If someone wants to be a part of your life, they will make space for you too.

And maybe that's the biggest thing this heartbreak taught me: sometimes losing someone doesn't mean you lost everything. Sometimes, you find yourself in the process of letting them go.
