The Winter Night The winter night was cold and deep, While lonely shadows refused to sleep. She sat by the window, lost in thought, Remembering all she had once sought. The moonlight rested upon her face, But could not fill the empty space. She watched the stars, so far, so bright, And wished her heart could feel their light. A quiet tear rolled down her cheek, For words she wanted but couldn’t speak. Yet somewhere beneath the frozen pain, She hoped for sunshine after rain.
